Starting this blog was a snap decision. I hadn’t planned on it. I went to graduate school in English at UNC-Chapel Hill and the closest thing I had to a culinary education there was reading that famous scene from the 18th-century novel, Tom Jones. Alright, yes, that’s nerdy literary humor. You can take the girl out of the English major, but you can’t take the English major out of the girl.
Anyway, now I have two little children under the age of 4, and the kitchen has become a place of refuge and renewal. Sometimes my 3-year-old daughter helps. Sometimes it’s perfectly quiet, just me and the gentle roll, turn, roll of a tender pie dough.
I’ve been known to hound friends and to forage endlessly through cookbooks for great recipes, and this site provides a little home for all that energy.
Please feel welcome to share your favorites, the ones you make again and again, and don’t forget to give credit to whoever made the recipe famous. No secrets!
